This working paper that is available free of charge explores employee’s perceived role and empowerment in the strategy process and implementation of strategy in ten different organizations focusing on middle-level practitioners between top-management and grass-root level in organizations.
The empirical data consist mainly of semi-structured interviews with practitioners, such as middle managers, assistants, experts and officers. The purpose is descriptive, aiming to give quite a comprehensive picture of the practitioners’ roles in strategy processes and mediating their emic perceptions of their role and practices.
The approach is constructivist, aiming to conceptualize an active role of a middle-level practitioner in the strategy process.
